Kṣitigarbha is known for his great vow to rescue all beings particularly those in the hell realms. He has a special connection with the earth as symbolized in some forms by a staff he carries. 

Thru invoking his love and compassion, may all beings find protection from harm and the natural balance of the earth be restored.
