The 4 Dharmas and Abandoning the Faults of the Vessel

Khenpo Samdup Rinpoche will begin a 7 month course of teaching of his commentary on Jigten Sumgon’s Essence of Mahayana. This text presents the philosophy and practice of the Mahayana in a systematic manner, beginning with the 4 common preliminary contemplations and proceeding through the generation of bodhicitta, the generation and completion stages of Vajrayana, and the Five-fold Mahamudra.

The initial weekend of teachings from the Essence of Mahayana will include a presentation of the Four Thoughts that Turn the Mind, here called “Abandoning the Faults of the Vessel” they are:

  1. The Precious Human Birth
  2. Impermanence
  3. Karma
  4. The Defects of Samsara

Internalizing the meaning of these contemplations provides an indispensable foundation for all further buddhist practice.

Retreat Fee: $25 per day $40 for weekend
Students: $12 per day  $20 for weekend

Registration is at the door. Lunch is included.
