Boundless Light Buddha Amitabha, Jang Chog Ritual
Khenpo Samdup Rinpoche explains the importance of Amitabha’s teachings and practice:
“On Sunday we have Amitabha practice and Jang Chog ritual. Throughout this year many people have passed away. Furthermore, we are also all going to die. Amitabha practice is an easy way to liberate ourselves and others. Amitabha’s pureland is less difficult to reach than other purelands. In addition Garchen Rinpoche will do many dedications and make aspirations for those that have passed away.
“The Jang Chog Rituals will be a part of the practice and this has two aspects; one is to connect those who have died with the blessings of Amitabha creating the causes for a positive rebirth. The second aspect is removing obstacles at the time of our death, even if at that time no one practices on our behalf. Garche Rinpoche is a realized master and has completely accomplished the practices of Achi Chokyi Drolma and Amitabha Buddha. Therefore, doing these practices with Rinpoche brings boundless benefits to all beings, both the living and those who have passed away.”
SPONSOR A PUJA DURING AMITABHA (and ACHI) PRACTICES
During these practices students may make financial offerings to sponsor the puja (ritual practice) for one’s personal benefit, that of another such as a family member, a deceased loved one or for anyone suffering in need of support. Additionally, financial offerings of any amount, small or large can be made to sponsor the puja and make a connection to these sublime practices.
Sponsoring pujas is traditional way to gather the accumulation of merit and purify obscurations that prevent spiritual development and realization. In this way students can participate in the ritual practice and receive its blessings from anywhere in the world. Garchen Rinpoche and many other masters have explained that participating in pujas through sponsorship is a powerful way to gather merit and is as beneficial as performing the puja one’s self.
