DESCRIPTION:“The Standing Blade of Grass”\n10am-12pm \n12pm-1:30pm (Lunch\, included with registration)\n1:30pm-4:30pm \nThe Phowa practice is the most direct and quickest method by which one may be assured of a positive rebirth and possible enlightenment at the time of death. During this retreat\, attendees will have the same opportunity of receiving and practicing the Phowa transmission and teachings as did many hundreds-of-thousands of Tibetans and other practitioners around the world. Also included in the retreat will be the Nyingma Lineage Phowa transmission that Khenpo Samdup Rinpoche received from Khenpo Munsel. \nKhenpo will explain the stages of death from a Tibetan Buddhist perspective\, including the signs that accompany each stage and techniques that allow practitioners to use the process of death as an opportunity for realization. DESCRIPTION:Join us to‌‌ni‌gh‌t ‌‌T‌u‌e‌sday M‌ay 2‌9‌th from 7:‌00pm-8:‌30pm‌ to Celebrate Saga Dawa as a community thru practice\, prayers and meditation. \nSaga Dawa:\nA Month of Honoring the Buddha’s Life\nSaga Dawa observations take place in the fourth Tibetan month\, which in 201‌8 begins on ‌M‌a‌y 16‌‌th and ends on Ju‌ne 13‌th‌. Most holy of all is the full moon day of Saga Dawa\, the 15th day of the month\, which is the date most commonly associated with not only Buddha’s birth but also his enlightenment and parinirvana. \nDuring this month practitioners place special emphasis on Dharma practice like circumambulation of monasteries and stupas\, prostrations\, taking precepts\, reciting mantras\, offering mandalas\, doing sadhanas and saving animals lives\, etc. Traditionally\, the Buddha’s birth\, enlightenment and entry into Nirvana at his death are observed together on the 15th day of Saga Dawa\, which this year falls on ‌‌Tu‌es‌d‌ay M‌ay 29‌th‌. All the merits of virtuous actions done on this day are multiplied one hundred million times. \nMay the benefits for all beings be endless!

Throughout this year many people have passed away. Furthermore\, we are also all going to die. Amitabha practice is an easy way to liberate ourselves and others. Amitabha’s pureland is less difficult to reach than other purelands. In addition Garchen Rinpoche will do many dedications and make aspirations for those that have passed away. \n“The Jang Chog Rituals will be a part of the practice and this has two aspects;  one is to connect those who have died with the blessings of Amitabha creating the causes for a positive rebirth. When we practice with Garchen Rinpoche\, a realized master\, who has accomplished this practice\, the benefits are immeasurable.” \n\nSPONSOR A PUJA DURING ACHI (and AMITABHA) PRACTICES \n \nDuring these practices students may make financial offerings to sponsor the puja (ritual practice) for one’s personal benefit\, that of another such as a family member\, a deceased loved one or for anyone suffering in need of support. Additionally\, financial offerings of any amount\, small or large can be made to sponsor the puja and make a connection to these sublime practices. \nSponsoring pujas is traditional way to gather the accumulation of merit and purify obscurations that prevent spiritual development and realization. This evening Khenpo will share his journey to India and Nepal highlighting the holy sites as well the Commemoration of the Lord JIgten Sumgon’s 800th Maha Parinirvana Celebration at Drikung Kagyu Institute\, Jangchubling\, Dehradun\, in India. \nThis is a wonderful time to connect with the Gar Drolma community\, welcome Khenpo back to Dayton and share in his journey to India. \nWe will share in a dinner together in the lower level of Gar Drolma beginning at 6:30pm. Please bring a vegetarian covered dish to share. SUMMARY:“Anger”\, Your Compassionate Guru with Khenmo Konchog Nyima Drolma
DESCRIPTION:We would like to invite you to register for the weekend by Monday\, December 4th to help us with our planning. Thank you! \nThere will also be a public talk on Friday (click for more info) – no fee\, donations are welcome. \nMany are finding these chaotic times challenging. As practitioners\, life is our best teacher. Because we have mind\, we have emotions and they can and do become our guru as we apply the Dharma. Khenmo will give meditation instructions and teach from the three yanas on anger and related states of mind. She will use three sources: Buddha\, who in the sutras\, gave very specific teachings on relating to anger; Shantideva’s Courage of Patience chapter that illuminates a wise and compassionate response to understanding the sources of anger and the value of taming it and Pema Chodron’s teachings on anger from Go to the Places that Scare You. \nThis retreat will incorporate Dharma talks with group sitting and walking meditation. Every day will have two Dharma talks and several hours of Calm Abiding silent meditation. In this way\, you will be able to safely observe anger within the context of sitting meditation and directly experiment with techniques of pacification\, learning the wisdom of facing our fears and the healing balm of the Dharma. It is recommended that you come for the whole retreat as the Shantideva chapter will be woven throughout the weekend. You may come for the day only but please read the complete Shantideva Chapter on Patience so you are prepared if you miss the early talks. \nAbout Khenmo Konchog Nyima Drolma\nAbbess of Vajra Dakini Nunnery\, Khenmo Konchog Nyima Drolma has trained with the foremost spiritual teachers of our time including H.H. After her novice ordination by Drikung Kyabgon in 1997\, she spent two years in training at Gampo Abbey guided by Ven. Pema Chödrön. In 2002 she took full ordination as a Buddhist nun in Taiwan.
