SUMMARY:Medicine Buddha Empowerment\, Teachings and Practice
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\n10am-12pm \n12pm-1:30pm (Lunch\, included with registration)\n1:30pm-4:30pm \nSunday\n10am-12pm \n\nOn Saturday morning Khenpo will give the empowerment of Medicine Buddha\, the Buddha of Healing. This ritual introduces participants to the enlightened nature of our body\, speech\, and mind and authorizes us to practice the visualization\, mantra recitation\, and meditation of Medicine Buddha. The practice of the peaceful Medicine Buddha is a profound method of purifying the subtle causes of illness for oneself and others.\nOn Saturday afternoon Khenpo will give the oral transmission of the liturgical practice (sadhana) of Medicine Buddha\, teach how to perform it\, and lead group practice. During the practice sessions Khenpo will also offer instruction in other meditation methods such as the generation of love\, calm abiding\, and insight meditation. He will explain how to blend these with meditation on Medicine Buddha.\nSunday morning will be dedicated to continued explanation and practice of the sadhana of Medicine Buddha.\n\nRetreat Fee per person: $25/day\, $40/weekend\nStudents: $12/day\,  $20/weekend \nRegistration is at the door. Lunch is included. \nIf you are interested in attending the retreat and need any financial assistance\, we can accommodate your needs. SUMMARY:Great Drikung Phowa Chenmo Practice
DESCRIPTION:“The Standing Blade of Grass”\n10am-12pm \n12pm-1:30pm (Lunch\, included with registration)\n1:30pm-4:30pm \nThe Phowa practice is the most direct and quickest method by which one may be assured of a positive rebirth and possible enlightenment at the time of death. During this retreat\, attendees will have the same opportunity of receiving and practicing the Phowa transmission and teachings as did many hundreds-of-thousands of Tibetans and other practitioners around the world. Also included in the retreat will be the Nyingma Lineage Phowa transmission that Khenpo Samdup Rinpoche received from Khenpo Munsel. \nKhenpo will explain the stages of death from a Tibetan Buddhist perspective\, including the signs that accompany each stage and techniques that allow practitioners to use the process of death as an opportunity for realization. Additionally\, Khenpo will give the transmission for Phowa (transference) this technique allows accomplished practitioners to die consciously and transfer their consciousness to the pure realm of Amitabha Buddha.  \nAfter receiving this transmission\, students engage in diligent practice until unmistakable physical signs of accomplishment occur\, the arising of these signs indicate that the practitioner will be able to successfully implement the practice at the actual time of death.  \nRetreat Fee per person: $25/day\, $40/weekend\nStudents: $12/day\,  $20/weekend \nRegistration is at the door. Lunch is included. \nIf you are interested in attending the retreat and need any financial assistance\, we can accommodate your needs.
