SUMMARY:Phowa and Bardo Teachings: The Great Drikung Phowa
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nThe Great Drikung Phowa is highly revered in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. The Phowa is a special practice that we do for ourselves and others at the time of death.  It is intended to help us be reborn in Amitabha Pureland where we meet with optimum conditions to complete our path to enlightenment. \nKhenpo Samdup will offer the transmission of the Great Drikung Phowa that gives you permission to engage in this practice. In addition\, he will give Bardo Teachings that provide insight into what we can expect at the time of death. Khenpo Samdup has said it is a requirement to have the Phowa transmission to participate in our monthly Phowa practice. \nSchedule \nSaturday\, Feb. 8\, 2020 \n10:00 – Noon: Practice\nNoon – 1:30pm: Lunch *\n1:30pm – 4:30pm: Practice Continued \nSunday\, Feb. 9\, 2020 \n10:00 – Noon: Practice\nNoon – 1:30pm: Lunch *\n1:30pm – 4:30pm: Practice Continued \n*Lunch is included and will be served in the lower level. The practice of Vajrasattva and 100\,000 recitations of his 100-syllable mantra is one of our four foundation practices.  The 100 syllables of his mantra encompass the heart syllables of the 100 Peaceful & Wrathful Deities and the practice of Vajrasattva enables the realization of our full spiritual potential by purifying our negative karma.   \nVajrasattva is radiant white in color. His right hand holds a dorje (or vajra) at his heart which symbolizes his skillful means and compassion. His left holds a bell at his hip signifying wisdom.
