This year, we are fortunate to offer two rare and precious dharma treasures in two separate raffle drawings at this summer’s retreat.  When you enter these raffles, please know that you are benefitting our center by helping us raise funds to pay off our mortgage and ensuring that we have a home for future dharma activities.
Offered in this year’s raffles are:

Namgyalma long-life glass pendant

     1. A Tara statue that sat on the shrine of H.E. Garchen Rinpoche for many years. Rinpoche said the red bead that he placed at her topknot is Amitabha Buddha. He also said he thought this Tara was so beautiful that sometimes he’d give her a kiss (which he sweetly demonstrated to the kind doner of this statue). Also, H.H. Dalai Lama is present on the lotus by Tara’s ear.

    2. A handmade Namgyalma long-life glass pendant that has Rinpoche’s hair embedded in the glass. Namgyalma is deity of long life and purification. This beautiful pendant has the mantra of Namgyalma which is considered to have infinite benefits. For example, the mantra is so powerful, if an animal hears it, it will never again be born in the lower realms. For more information about the Namgyalma mantra, click here: Namgyalma Mantra

Both the Tara statue and Namgyalma pendant will be blessed by Rinpoche and he will select the winning tickets. Entries for the raffle are $10 each or 6 for $50.

Thank you for your entries and good luck. We look forward to seeing you this summer.
With kind regards,

“Only if we possess a physical building can the center become stable. Then we are able to provide a stable place for beings to study and practice the Buddhadharma. Everyone supporting this will accumulate vast merit through their contribution to this great activity. Even beyond this lifetime, you will gather merit for as long as this place exists. It is like pouring a drop of water into the vast ocean. The drop will remain inseparable from the ocean for as long as the ocean exists.

“The actual merit comes from benefiting the center with a loving mind. All happiness in this world comes from love, and all suffering comes from ego-grasping. The supreme happiness is love. 'Gathering merit through Dharma' means to increase love, and I therefore encourage you to support the physical structure of the Dharma center.”

~His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche

We are a member-supported organization operating under the precious guidance of His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche. Our center’s mission is to share and sustain Buddhist teachings and practices through the unbroken lineage of Drikung Kagyu teachers and visiting teachers from other lineages. Our goals are to support our monastic community and offer teachings by our local monastics, to continue to invite visiting teachers, to expand offerings to beginners, and to increase our visibility within the local community..

To accomplish these goals, Gar Drolma relies on the generosity of sangha members in Dayton and the surrounding area, as well as the generosity of devotees throughout the United States and around the world.

How You Can Help
Gar Drolma is an IRS-certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and our existence greatly depends on the generous donations from our community and our members. Without your generosity, we would not be able to fulfill our mission. Your donations are fully tax-deductible, and here are some of the many ways you can help:

Donate to Fundraising
Gar Drolma is currently raising funds to continue paying down the temple mortgage. The amount owed is $32,000, and for the next year we are locked in to a lower interest rate. The rate may increase in 2015, however and our goal is to pay down the mortgage prior to the increase. This will be accomplished by continuing to make extra payments through our fundraising efforts. Contributions to the Temple Fund help lay an important foundation for our future by providing financial stability and greatly reducing our monthly costs.

Gar Drolma Membership is one of the best ways to help. Membership contributions provide regular and consistent funds essential to the center's operation and help cover residential monastic costs and office, insurance, visa, legal, and other expenses.
