RAFFLE OF AMBER STATUE OF LORD JIGTEN SUMGON
Gar Drolma has been blessed with a very precious gift, an amber statue of Lord Jigten Sumgon blessed by his Eminence Garchen Rinpoche.
This statue has been hand-carved from a single piece of amber and most certainly was a labor of love. While the statue is small in stature, roughly two and a half inches in height, it is unsurpassed in its importance. Many years ago, Garchen Rinpoche personally bestowed this statue to one of his students, who has graciously gifted it to Gar Drolma as a vehicle to raise contributions for the
mortgage fund.
Historically these images have been hand-carved since the thirteenth century when Lord Jigten Sumgon was alive. During that time, his heart disciple, Gar Chodingpa, made many statues in the image of his master. This practice has continued throughout the years by successive emanations of our most beloved guru Garchen Rinpoche.
Amber is commonly believed to strengthen the physical body, safeguard against evil and negative energies and enhance states of consciousness.

We are a member-supported organization operating under the precious guidance of His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche. Our center’s mission is to share and sustain Buddhist teachings and practices through the unbroken lineage of Drikung Kagyu teachers and visiting teachers from other lineages. Our goals are to support our monastic community and offer teachings by our local monastics, to continue to invite visiting teachers, to expand offerings to beginners, and to increase our visibility within the local community..
To accomplish these goals, Gar Drolma relies on the generosity of sangha members in Dayton and the surrounding area, as well as the generosity of devotees throughout the United States and around the world.

Gar Drolma is an IRS-certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and our existence greatly depends on the generous donations from our community and our members. Donate to Fundraising
Gar Drolma is currently raising funds to continue paying down the temple mortgage. The amount owed is $50,000, and for the next five years we are locked in to a lower interest rate. The rate may increase in 2015, however and our goal is to pay down the mortgage prior to the increase. This will be accomplished by continuing to make extra payments through our fundraising efforts. Contributions to the Temple Fund help lay an important foundation for our future by providing financial stability and greatly reducing our monthly costs.

Gar Drolma Membership is one of the best ways to help. Membership contributions provide regular and consistent funds essential to the center's operation and help cover residential monastic costs and office, insurance, visa, legal, and other expenses.
